Shakopee Public Utilities Commission


In 1951, the Shakopee City Council appointed the Shakopee Public Utilities Commission to run the city’s electric and water needs. There are 5 commissioners appointed to 3 year terms. These terms are staggered so that one or two commissioners are up for re-appointment every year.

Terry Joos. Terry is married to his wife Dee, has two grown children, Aaron and Justin. Terry served on the City Council, Planning Commission, Economic Development Authority, as well as a School Board liaison for 7 years. Terry also served briefly as a Shakopee Public Utilities Commissioner in 2004 while serving on the City Council.

Vice President

Aaron Weyer. Aaron is married to his wife Sara and they have lived in Shakopee for the past 12 years. Prior to serving as a Shakopee Public Utilities Commissioner, Aaron served as a Commissioner on the Environmental Advisory Committee for the City of Shakopee.  Aaron works as an Electrical Engineer for Seagate Technology in Shakopee.


 Deb Amundson borderedDeb Amundson. Deb has been a long time Shakopee resident. She is married to Rick and has a grown child.  Deb has served the community of Shakopee as a City Councilor and member of both the Planning Commission and Economic Development Authority.   She most recently served on the Scott County CDA Board of Commissioners.  Deb is the Administrator of the Bloomington law firm, Monroe Moxness Berg PA.


Daniel Hennen.  Dan lives in Shakopee, which he graduated from SHS in 2001.  He served in the Marine Corps from 2001 – 2005 as a Personnel Administrator.  He obtained his Bachelors of Science Degree from the University of Minnesota in 2013.  Dan presently works as a Commercial Loan Developer at Vision Bank in St. Louis Park.  In addition, Dan is an active Rotarian and enjoys volunteering throughout many Twin Cities organizations.
